Default 2000 S4 TIMING BELT ?

Okay, so i just purchased a 2000 s4 with 140,000 on it and I was looking into inspecting the timing belt and roller chain. Anyone have any idea how time consuming it is and if I would have to take apart the whole front end to do it? IF you have any directions or pics to post that would be great. ALSO WHAT IS A GOOD WEBSITE TO GET A AUDI REPAIR MANUAL? Thanks Guys and Girls..

Here is a link to a good how to with photos, there are many more tips on DIY maintenance. I purchased my shop manual on ebay. It has proven to be an invaluable resource. Good luck, and hope you enjoy your ride.

The best repair manual for this car is made by bentley - you can purchase an electronic version of it that comes with two licenses for about 200 bucks, I think.

JHM Motorsports sells a Timing Belt/WP DIY DVD for about $30. I used it and found it helpful when I replaced mine.

Not to Knock ECS on their products But ill never use non oem parts especially for timing. Not worth the risk.

Take a look at this thread:

Also this is just my opinion.I dont know the circumstances under which these timing belts failed.I'm just clearly stating that I personally myself will never use non oem parts for a vital drive train parts. Why risk blowing a motor over a couple hundred dollars. Not worth it.Just my opinion.

I will be more than happy to build anyone a timing belt kit with all genuine VW/Audi parts.

But don't freak out when the cost is nearly double of what you would pay for aftermarket parts.
