Replace digital dash unit?
The digital dash unit (w/ temp, mpg, etc) has been unreadable for the last few years. Now it's starting to annoy me. Yes, I turned it off but I know that it's still the only thing on my car that doesn't work as it should. Is it worth replacing? I heard that the replacements don't last long and are very expensive. Any recent experience out there?

A year later and mine is working fine. Definitely worth fixing as its annoying when it doesn't work.

It's not hard to do most of it yourself. I disassembled my cluster following the tech artticle from this site. Bought a LCD off ebay and had a guy at an electronics store solder it for me. The pins are pretty small and I didn't want to screw it up. cost me about 100 bucks total.
