Default S4 Engine Reluctance

Hi, I am having an issue with my 2005 B7 S4 - engine is running fine under normal driving but each time I hit the accelerator and try to 'make swift progress' the engine stutters and wants to stall, coming off the gas brings it back to normal and you can pick up speed if you are gentle but on quick overtakes I have been caught out and this is rather alarming and dangerous - any ideas?

I have had the usual things checked but no-one has been able to identify the issue. I thought it was an air or fuelling issue but really am not mechanically minded enough to check anything other than the basics....

Vacuum or boost leak most likely. Build a boost tester and listen for a leak.
