Sheared Off Avant Antenna
My garage door stuck for a moment due to ice the other morning, and I didn't realize it as I backed out of the garage and sheared my roof antenna off.
The local dealer wanted $350 to replace it!
Has anyone does this work themselves? I'm guessing it involves taking out the headliner.
I've attached photos of the damage.
Thanks

Ohh that sucks Is the roof dented badly?
It is kind of a PITA to get to the antenna, you have to pull down the interior trim (no real secrets to this just pull harder than you think you need to in order to pop the metal clips loose) around the overhead of the hatch. The big problem is that I think the antenna wire runs all the way down from the antenna through the D-pillar so you have to pull out all the trim to access the whole antenna wire.

Actually, I got lucky--the roof isn't dented at all--it's just some discoloration from where the boot of the antenna was. One thing I'm thinking about is just trying to reattach the original or a stubby antenna with silicone or some adhesive. I realize that since it's severed, it won't work as an atenna, but it would look better? Thoughts?
