S4 / RS4 (B5 Platform) Discussion Discussion forum for the B5 Audi S4 & RS4 produced from 1998-2002

Since there seem to be a lot of questions on how N75 vs MBC vs Both affect boost, I drew this up...

Good point Darin. Closed wastegates on K03's will taper down to 15 psi at redline.

Default Absolutely no need if you happy with your current boost delivery.

The only reason I went with the MBC in parallel was because my car was cutting throttle everytime I went WOT because of an outrageous initial spike. Of course, we first checked for leaks before going with the MBC in parallel.

Default BTW, I think boost builds quicker no matter which way you have the MBC set up. However...

That is just from my butt dyno. I don't have logs to prove it.

Default What's better for the engine i guess? I've got ko4's on ko3 software, so i'm

thinking that just the MBC set-up would be better?

Default Is it correc to say that MBC alone will yield the most power because...

higher boost levels are maintained (provided that the turbo can supply)?

Default Yeah, that is why I say it depends on your objective. I want power AND reliability. Therefore....

I use the MBC in parallel because I prefer running 12 psi at redline to 15 psi at redline like the MBC alone would do.

Default "What's better for the engine" They are all fine.

If you just want your car to run and don't want to fiddle, just keeping the n75 with k03 s/w would be fine with k04s. You just won't be as fast. If you want to create the most power, an MBC alone set a little over 1 bar would probably be the best bet. You may have to get more fuel for that though (5 bar fpr)
