Default Small block

Im in the process of purchasing a small block for my 2001.5 Audi Avant. Miles are more obviously on some 2001 engines than 2002 engines. Can I use a 2002 2.7 in a 2001.5? What are the major differences if any?

I think aside from a few sensors (like MAF) the engine was unmodified. I'm almost certain the heads and block are the same. You might even be able to use the 2.7L from an Audi Allroad.

Hmm, so potentially a 2.7 from a allroad up to I think 2005 would work fine? That will be sweet if I could fine one with really low miles.

Potentially is the key word - you'll need to do a little more research, but I'm pretty sure the majority of the engine in the Allroad is just like ours - I would watch out for things like the engine mount positions and so on. I don't even know if they made an Allroad with a manual trans option. Just be sure to cross all your t's and so on. GL!

They did make a man transmission. There are some differances with the allroad though. Mainly do to it having a more design revisions.

I just talked with my mechanic, he's looking into it. He said the same thing, might have some tweaks, but said he'll try to look up to 2004. Anyone buy anything from http://shokan.com/ ? I think we may purchase from them.

funny this should come up. i've been trying to establish the physical/hardware differences (if any) between the different iterations of the 2.7TT.

My thread at AZ

it didn't seem to garner much response over there. i don't know if it's because of people not knowing or not caring, but either way this is exactly one of the reasons how the information can be applied. even though my original interest was S4-specific, it can easily apply to other models with the 2.7TT. any of you guys over that have AZ accounts, if you know the answers, please feel free to post it.

Noneckjo,
for what it's worth, i found 3 engine codes for the S4 (AGB, APB and AZB) and 2 engine codes for the All Road (APB and ARE). that would lead me to assume mounting would be the same as the S4.
