Default Speaker Dilemma:

Left rear speaker on 01.5 Avant is blown. Do I:

A) Ask if anyone here has a speaker they'll part with?

or

B) Ask if there is a pair of speakers I can straight swap out my rears for a better sound (i.e., better base without losing clarity)?

C) Silicone it back together and save your money.

Default yup done this for years, also another good idea which i have not trird would be to lay down ..

A small layer of rtv/silicon, then add some thin fabric as a middle layer , then add another thin coat of rtv on top

Default That might be too stiff. The speaker needs to remain pliable. DIY inside.

This is for the door panel removal. Once the door is off, remove the 3 screws securing the speaker to the panel. Apply a thin layer of silicone to the area on the speaker that's separated. Let it dry overnight and install. Good to go!

https://www.audiworld.com/tech/int49.shtml</a
