Stage 4 Clutch Install DIY
My Stage 3+ S4 has had a dead clutch for 8 plus months and is killing me seeing it just sitting in the garage, I can barely get it around the block at 20 MPH every few weeks just to keep the fluids moving, etc. Finances are tight right now like I am sure with everyone these day.
How hard is it to change a clutch in the B5 S4 in a garage with no lift?
I have 4 jack stands, and a neighbor of mine does have a engine hoist/lift that he said I could borrow.
I currently have the ClutchMasters Lightweight steel flywheel and Stage 4 Clutch which I believe is the FX400 series.
I have a worked on my friends S4 and my S4 in my garage doing normal maintenance and some medium repair work (timing belt, replaced lifters and cams, replaced engine mounts) but nothing requiring pulling the engine or dropping the transmission.
Does anyone have any suggestions for which way to do it pulling motor versus dropping transmission, also does anyone have any links to a good write up on how to do the clutch install?
What is the typical amount of time it takes to do this as I do have a friend that can help but we both have newborn kids so time is some what limited?
Assuming I get a new clutch kit from ClutchMasters I would imagine I would have to get a new flywheel ring or the flywheel resurfaced depending on which model is in the car right now.
Appreciate any and all advice.

Can you do a clutch with the car on jack stands? yes. Would I recommend it? Hell no. Get the car up on a lift. If you don't want to pay for the full job, that's fine. I'm sure you could work some trade of goods and services with an independent shop in order for them to let you use a lift on a day they are not usually open.
