Default Is there a procedure for deleting the afterrun coolant pump?

I think mine is leaking and I would rather bypass it than replace. I found the replace write-up, is there one for bypassing it?

I have an 01.5 6MT. Do I need to remove the manifold to get to it?

Did you ever get this figured out? Mine is leaking a bit and seeing as I've never had the damn thing run I would just rather bypass it as you said.

Here's a picture. I wanted permission to use it before I posted it.

1"x1" PEX brass elbow fitting (lowes, home depot)
(2) 1/2"-1" elbow (lowes, home depot)

Is there a downside to not having it? It seems like its something one would want to prolong the life of the engine/turbos.

Personally I wouldn't bypass it. It's on there for a reason, you've never seen it run because it's located under the intake manifold and is REALLY quiet when it starts running after shut-down. I would just buy a new one and replace it instead of deleting it when considering the purpose it serves.
But if it's leaking I'd seriously do one thing or the other soon, because when it inevitably fails, which it will it's gonna be a hot mess and you'll be $hit outa luck..... Trust me on that, mine completely split in 2 and dumped every last drop of coolant in the car all over the pavement when mine failed (between autocross runs @ Waterfest this past summer..... use your imagination to calculate the ridiculous amount of F bombs I dropped at the time).

Yeh, I decided not to delete. I got a good deal on a pump and sensor, now I just need to suck it up and tackle the job. Unfortunately the temps around here refuse to go above freezing.
