Thinking about putting a single 12" subwoofer in my car. Opinions / Experiences requested! TIA.
I'm thinking about adding a single JL Audio 12w3 subwoofer in a professionally built box. I will be tapping it into my Bose system powered by a 500 watt class D amp. I do have the ski sack in the middle and my seats will always be up. I listen to a lot of Trance, Techno, Dance, Hip-Hop, and Pop music. I want good clean bass but don't want to wake up the whole neighborhood, maybe just next door. j/k.
What do you guys think? I would greatly appreciate all opinions and thoughts. Thanks.

One 12 should sound fine. Zerin has 1 12 in his car, but it's a much more involved
install than you probably want. One 12 facing towards the rear of the car should play damn good. I have 2 in mine....had to have that little extra for those low notes. A JL 500/1 should work fine.....you might end up having more bass than mids/highs though

HOw would you hook it up? I have a 10inch solobaric and 400 x1 PPI that's
getting dust..... I'd love to put it in but want ot know how to go about it.
IS it Really as simple as the FAQ section under tech? that's my question...

I think a 12 will probably be your best bet. Give you a good amout of punch as
well as low end freq. response. Hmm.....there's a lot of subs that would work. I'm running Xtant's X-series 12s...they would work fine. Imagine Dynamics like Zerin's would work good also.....And you can never leave out JL.....I would probably say get a JL 12w3....that's probably your best bet. It will work fine in 1 to 1.25 cu.ft. box and sound good.

If you're attaching it to the Bose, no need to go more than a 10"...
...hell, no reason for 500W either! I had an Orion 12" XTR being powered by 200W mated with the older stock Delta head unit and aftermarket Canton separates in my previous A4. Even with the woofer firing toward the rear seat (w/o ski sack) and the waveform losses from that, it was serious overkill even for rap music with the amount of full range the system could produce. A single 10" with 200-250W will make you plenty happy, and take up a lot less room in your trunk. If you put in a box that's not really custom molded to be permanent/fit flush somewhere, make it fire backward toward the trunk. I had noticeable losses with the seatbacks up compared to down.

I'm just going to do one 10". Plenty of bass for what I need (and I have the same **need** as you're describing). One 10" properly setup w/ the correct box and a good amp will rock the **** out of the s4 :-)

How in the hell would you know what it sounds like???
Listening to the stereo with the car off? But if you turn it up loud, you drain the batter, but if you start the engine, you can't hear the stereo. HOW DO YOU DO IT MAN? ;-)
