Default Toresn Drian Plug-Noobie Quesiton

2000 S4 with 6 spd.

There is a drain plug on the end cover that houses the torsen differential. Is the torsen lubricated by the transmission oil?

Thanks,

KYC

If you are talking about the final drive (black casing mounted to the transmission and which has the driveshaft coming out of it) then yes, this is lubricated with gear oil. It has its own drain plug but I think it shares gear oil with the tranny. Not 100% sure about this though, it could be sealed off from the tranny gear oil.

you probably mixed a little old gear oil in with the new but it's not going to destroy the car. How did you check the fill level? It is supposed to be just below the plug on the side of the tranny if you did it right.
