My poor old S4 broke the timing belt and the quoted price (around $6k) is more than the car might be worth, so need a junk yard. Any place I can maximize my value from the car? It has a new paint job and is really in great shape since I babied it, so it's killing me to let it go, and I don't have time to pull parts off the thing. 6M with around 130K miles.

I'm sure you can find someone or somewhere to do it cheaper than that. Where are you from??? I would pay you what ever the junk would pay you. And I would come get it. If you your anywhere in NY state

List it across the various forums and facebook groups.

There's bound to be someone handy with a wrench who has an engine that would be interested in it. You can find a replacement used engine for $500-$1000.

If you sell it with the bad engine probably 2,000-4,000 is what you could get depending on the condition of the car and how much effort you are willing to put into selling it.
