Default Why do my revs drop so quickly???

When I first purchased my car used a few years ago (59K Miles) the car used to decelerate pretty smoothly (after hitting WOT i'll let off and the car will slow itself down smoothly). This is now not the case (90K miles). Another thing that I noticed is that I have to shift a lot quicker or hit the gas a little more between upshifts to make shifting smooth. It seems as though there is a load on the engine (like when the AC is on) that makes the RPM's drop so quickly. When I am WOT and let go the car bucks forward instead of slowly decreasing its RPM's. Does anyone know any components I can check/replace AND/OR sensors I can monitor? I have VAGCOM so I can pretty much hook up into anything.

Thanks,
Shawn.

any work ever done to the trans? Maybe the bearings in the tranny are starting to go and its dragging on the engine does it ease up if the clutch is in?
