Default Ben, thanks for all your effort in supporting us ECUx v1 users :-) A4 owner here...

and I would buy v2 if it works on my car (018CH 1.8T) and has improvements I could use. (such as looking in the right place for timing data ;-) )

Default Cut your losses on V1 ! Dump support and let it go OpenSource!

At least it wouldn't make such a PITA getting a reg key

How sweet would that be! However, I don't see it ever happening.

It would greatly advance the development of the platform for Audi/VW

I can already tell you it's not going to happen, but I'll bring it up at the next engineering meeting. And how do you guys expect to be able to compile it when we can't even do that?

There's also the issues of opening up the properties files, as that does contain proprietary information.

Default You'd be amazed how much work can get done on an OpenSource project when there are many minds on it.

As for the proprietary files, aren't those just a collection of what data/sensors are available to scan? and how to scan? per Audi/VW model

Which is encrypted for a reason... we do our best to prevent competitors from releasing a competing product. Not to mention that we use a proprietary method for connecting to the ECUs for data logging.

ECUx2 (if it is ever released) uses APR's own cable and supports ME5, ME7, and ME9 vehicles.

*EDIT* The answer is no on making it open source.
