Ben, thanks for all your effort in supporting us ECUx v1 users :-) A4 owner here...
and I would buy v2 if it works on my car (018CH 1.8T) and has improvements I could use. (such as looking in the right place for timing data ;-) )

I can already tell you it's not going to happen, but I'll bring it up at the next engineering meeting. And how do you guys expect to be able to compile it when we can't even do that?

You'd be amazed how much work can get done on an OpenSource project when there are many minds on it.
As for the proprietary files, aren't those just a collection of what data/sensors are available to scan? and how to scan? per Audi/VW model

Which is encrypted for a reason... we do our best to prevent competitors from releasing a competing product. Not to mention that we use a proprietary method for connecting to the ECUs for data logging.
ECUx2 (if it is ever released) uses APR's own cable and supports ME5, ME7, and ME9 vehicles.
