Default In reality a typical euro S4 (=mine) is 1602 kg

Every car is weighed at the factory, so the above is the actual wieght.

I believe the only difference between mine and a US car is no sunroof and no power seats.

Default Do you have sport seats or Recaros?

I want an S4 Avant without sunroof and no power seats. If they make it in Europe I might be able to get it here next year. I would really like the Recaro seats, but I doubt that they will let us have them.

Thanks

The car is a sports sedan after all. I would expect it to have all the amenities of a luxury sedan. I would much rather Audi put in that Aliminium engine block that I know will probably get added just after I buy my S4.

Default Unfortunately I have the normal sport seats

When I ordered my car, the options for the 99.5 S4 was somewhat unknown. They didn't know about Recaros, SideGuard and the alu mirrors at the time. The upside was that I got the first 99.5 S4 in Sweden...

AFAIK the Recaros are power seats by default.

Default Re: What I'd do without to get a lighter car

It would probably leave you with a 1.500 Kg./3.300 lbs. S4 at best with a 63/37 weight distribution. The remedy is as much balance as it is weight reduction. Maybe the key is not to source the extra power from a heavy V-6 twin-turbo but smaller 5 cylinder in-line engine (as in the Ur-Quattro).

There is no comparison between the 2.5 liter Subaru and the 2.0 liter turbo. Even in turbo form, it is no match to the S4 (only in raw performance).

Can anything be moved rearwards. The battery, for example?

Default Yeah, get an Avant

Weighs very little more, but much better weight distribution. Handles better on the track than the sedan. One reason I am waiting to see if the Avant comes out next year.
