Default 2014 S6 CPO pricing advice

Hello all,

I have been searching 2014+S6 for a while and spotted a low miles 2014 S6 at Palo Alto Audi just last week and will be going to check out the car in person tomorrow.

Need some advice on Audi CPO pricing

This one has ~15K miles. The original MSRP was $90,245 and the asking price is now $60K.

Here are the options:
1. C7 Audi exclusive - with 2-tones Havanna brown interior and piano black trim. $6K+ option when new according to new car sticker.
2. Comfort seating.
3. LED headlight.
4. 20" wheels.
5. Cold weather package.
6. Power sunshade.
7. Soft closing doors.
8. Driver assistance.
9. Black phantom pearl paint.

Carfax shows it is a local Bay Area car and have few warranty items done by San Francisco Audi.
1. Replaced fuel pump and cap.
2. Replaced sun visors.
3. Replaced AC compressor.

Edmunds suggested good condition CPO is ~$59K.

I wonder if it is realistic to negotiate down to ~11% off asking price and make it $60K OTD or even lower.. (my city's sales tax rate is 10%.. one of the highest in California unfortunately.. )

and should I be concern on with any warranty items done on the car?

Any suggestions/advice are appreciated.

Will

My experience (and from the other threads I've seen on this forum), CPO cars are hard to negotiate. Having said that, every situation is different, for example how long has the car been for sale? If it's been on the lot for 3-4 months they may budge a little more than $1-2k off, (which seems to be the standard discount on a CPO). I've been eyeing late model CPO S6's in the Bay Area for a long time and the ones I liked where usually gone pretty quickly, that's why I ended up getting a brand new one eventually, especially with the steep discounts on leftover 16s they were only a couple grand apart from similarly equipped CPOs. Just for your reference, I paid $69k before tax, after rebates for a $82k MSRP car so depending on how much you can or are willing to stretch your budget you may want to look into that also.

That seems high for a 2014. Back in May 2014, I bought my 2013 S6 CPO with 9,250 miles for $63,400. The car was one model year old then and had an $80k MSRP (didn't have all the equipment that this one has). But as someone whose family is in the used car business for the past 40 years, I can tell you that the $6k Audi Exclusive interior color does not really add to the car's resale value. Generally options don't add much to resale value, so long as the car isn't a stripped model missing key comfort/safety items.

The 2014 you're considering now is three model years old (2014/2015/2016) with higher mileage (though less per year), and not much savings off what I paid.

I live in PA and bought my car in MI because the price was fair and it was the color/options I wanted. The dealer did negotiate a bit. I don't think I would ever pay asking price for a car.

When searching for my A8 I found Cargurus.com to be one of the best sites. It looks like you have a few options for S6's within reasonable driving distance. The one you are looking at does seem to be priced well. They might come down a couple grand but probably not much more than that.

As has been mentioned, sometimes the CPO option can be harder to get them down on as its a cost the dealer must carry to get the CPO in the first place - thus making it harder margin wise for them.

That said, and I cant speak for others, but I got mine CPO at the end of the month at its second dealership after about 4 months of no takers for the car.

They were happy to move it rather than wholesale it so I got it for a very good price - not far above your Edmunds price and mine is 2016 with 11k on it.

Id suggest that number is a bit high and even with the CPO you should be able to get them down - but every situation is different.

Hope it works out in your favour.

Just as another note, Palo Alto has 2 x White S6 currently at 70k.

The one with the custom black CF mirrors was down in LA at its lowest price of 67999.

They have it for 71k currently - same car same CPO.

There is always room to move with the appropriate research.

Best of luck.
