My S6 is en route from Germany, and I'm REALLY looking forward picking it up. Advice on breaking it in?

[not my car, but mine will look just like this]

i used old school: for first 1000 miles no sudden acceleration or braking, no cruise control, no long drives at the same speed.

Lots of threads on this. Understand you have only a few posts but you have been here almost two years. Please search.

Nope, wasnt getting pissy. Actually thought I wrote that with a calm demeanor. Im very excited for you to get your car as well.

Is this the first new car you have ever gotten? If not, then break it in the same way you broke in your other cars before. This isnt a unicorn of a car that needs some special break in sequence.

That and you will get 12000 responses as to how everyone else broke in their car giving you absolutely no resolution as to how YOU should break in your own car.

Thus, bringing us back to square one. Break it in the way you will normally drive the car.

Well, technically your search could have been more detailed, instead of using the word "break" which would yield more complaining threads lol, try "break in" next time. But dont worry, I already tried that for you and verified that the search function in this forum doesnt work that great and wouldnt have brought up many worthwhile threads. That being said, I found many more on the AZ forum.

However, I still stand by my previous post.

awesome - thanks.

I'm broken in a few new cars before, but nothing like this monster twin turbo V8! For example, at the end of our driveway, I have to accelerate (sometimes hard) across two lanes of oncoming traffic into a merge lane, and hence onto the highway. Is this something I should avoid from the first 1,500 miles or so?

Forgive my ignorance - what is the AZ forum?

The worst thing IMHO to do to a car is break it in super soft and then at 1000 miles start romping on it. Basically the car will freak out internally and ask why you are treating it like that all of a sudden. Treat the car you would a new girlfriend, show her what you got right out of the gate.

Now, Im not saying you should redline it at every light you are at. But taking it to redline once in a while while the car is warmed up is a good thing, will help seat the rings.

Oh and I was talking about the Audizine forum....Shhh.

Run through your rev range periodically and pay attention to the red lights on your tach while the motor is warming up. If the engine is warm and the rev lights are gone, then go ahead and mash it to get out of your driveway.
