When the button is pressed to open the valve, is that equivalent to the exhaust being set on "dynamic" for the stock S6 exhaust, or is it something totally different?

The valve tendencies are based on engine load and speed, gear selected, and vehicle speed. We've found that they open at around 3500 rpm. The SwitchPath™ Remote allows you to keep them open or closed at all times, at any time.

So, just to clarify: I understand that the "open" setting means the valves are open all the time. However, when "closed", is the factory algorithm is bypassed (i.e. closed at all times) or does it revert to factory programming (sometimes open and sometimes closed)?

I am very interested in this too. Does anyone know how many "valves" we have on our cars and exactly what they do (how they re-direct airflow)? I have a '16 with the sport exhaust.

Looking forward to updates/input!

The MY16 has one valve in front of the left rear muffler and another valve in one of the output pipes of the right rear muffler. When the valves are closed all of the exhaust gases exit via the single right hand exhaust pipe. It's purpose is to provide backpressure and less 4 cylinder sound when in 4 cylinder mode.

The biggest effect of fitting this mod will make the exhaust quieter when the valves are closed, but no increase in sound, unless you are in comfort mode and above 70km per hour, when on. See the thread I linked to above.
