AWE vs. Milltek Exhaust
#81
Did u go with resonated tips or non resonated? I read that the milltek can be quite when just cruising down the highway. That's what I would like one that's quite until I put in dynamic and get on it. I had the AWE on my S4 and it was just too loud cruising on the highway. And did you go with the valvesonic option? That's where they have flaps that open and close like oem.

Just wanted to throw my two cents in. I went with Mag when I first bought my S6 last September. It is LOUD.... Very loud. When my husband takes the car, I can hear him coming home from three blocks away. Even our dogs can pick out the sound of the car coming into the neighborhood.
I'm actually going to switch to a Milltek, after much research. To me, the sound of the Mag doesn't "fit" the car, and the drone at cruising speeds - especially on the highway - is just a bit much. I'm sure our neighbors will thank me. I've never been fond of the way the Mag sits and how it looks, either. Maybe for others this is a solid product, but for me, it isn't worth saving the bit of cash.

Wondering this as well. I've decided on Milltek but can't decide which way to go. I rode in a '14 S7 today that had the resonated system and it was very, very quiet. Just wondering if anyone can share some insight on living with either...

I ended up going with the resonated ValveSonic system in the end, and I am VERY glad that I did. With the flaps open, this system is quite loud; I cannot imagine a situation where I would want the non-resonated to be very honest. For anyone considering this, the tone is quite nice, and with absolutely zero drone. In fact, the car is extremely quiet except upon start up and when you really hammer the throttle. Unless you want something obnoxious, at least to my ears, the resonated option is the way to go.
Here is something important worth noting. I ended up choosing the ValveSonic system because you are supposed to be able to control the RPM at which the flaps open via software on your computer; this is no longer the case. Apparently, and this is coming from my shop NOT from a conversation I personally had with Milltek, they are no-longer offering this option. I didn't find this out until I ordered the system and it arrived today, which is kind of a bummer, but I wouldn't let this be a deterrent. The system still sounds great, really raspy, and best of all it has really helped with the throttle lag that many of us have experienced. Full disclosure: I also have the APR tune, so it could be the combination of both. Not sure.

I actually have a Supersprint on mine, the race version from the cats back and only rear mufflers.
It sounds amazing, very C63 like only much louder. I find the first start from cold is very loud but once warmed up inside the car it is great until you are WOT, then it is very loud.
Freeway cruising it is silent, you can only hear a slight 'blip' when the car changes for 4 to 8 cylinders.
To be honest I'd like the centre muffler installed so may purchase one as sometimes I feel everyone is look my way wondering what is making that glorious noise..

I have almost the exact same setup and I love the milltech system. I highly suggest that you add the down pipe. A bit more money but brings a nice added kick.
Just thought I might update. The lack of reply to the above tells me that not many people have gone with the Milltek system as of yet - resonated or non.
