Brake squeal when very cold
Something I've noticed now that very cold weather is upon us. I get a lot of brake squeal when starting out on very cold days; it goes away once the rotors warm up but it is quite annoying for the first mile or so. Anyone else seeing this issue?

Mine squeaked for the very first time this morning while backing up into my space at work. It's 16F outside. The early B8S4 was notorious for squealing brakes when it was cold out too. It's expected from track-oriented pads and I suspect S-cars at least come with performance pads.
I don't worry about it.

Mine do it too. And since this winter has been atrocious, it happens a lot. Embarrassing to pull up to a light in an S6 and have the brakes squeak. I did buy Centric pads but haven't installed them yet. Got them for less dust, but maybe it will help the squeaking too.

Interesting that you bring up road salt. I'm in Atlanta so we have salt on the roads from the big snow-jam. I know I've driven in cold temps before with quiet brakes, so your experience may apply to my squealing this morning.

This has been the bane of my existence since I came to Audi.
My B8 S4 squealed so badly that Audi USA ended up replacing my rotors/pads with a set from the S5.
The S6 isn't as bad, but during the recent round-zero temps in Chicago I've been reminded of the terrible noise.
The dealer can bevel the edges of the rotors to stem the noise.
