Cruse control

I would assume the original poster is like me and feels comfortable at about 6-7 miles over speed limit without getting a ticket. I don't want to go 5 miles over and I don't want to go 7.5 miles over.
Example: Speed Limit 55 - I want to go about 61. I set cruise to 62.5 and when my speed gets up to about 61 I hit the button on the end of the stalk and it sets my cruise speed at 61.

Love ACC - hate going on trips now in my other 2 cars that don't have it. I can live with a few mistaken slow downs for the convenience. Actually really not mistaken - actually safe slow downs.

adavtive cruse control
I have had it for 5 days so far I find it quite amazing. It will bring the car from 100mph to an almost stop back to 100 mph with out any intervention. I think it works great with the ability to adjust the distance to the car in front of you and your desired maximum speed. The system really works well. It does not take long to let the car take control in a traffic jam and allow it to stop and accelerate to the needs of the traffic. No doubt with active side assist and lane departure active, and adaptive cruise control you are driving one of safest cars you could possibly drive. I loves it driving something else will be a bit of a disappointment.

I have the ACC, and wanted it because of the implied safety, but now that I have it, at times I miss the more traditional Cruise Control. I find it annoying when it slows down for events that I can see are ok, such as people passing and then cutting in but still going faster. For me the ideal would be ACC that can be switched to regular mode.

I have to apologize, there is no setting in the MMI to disable ACC to revert to standard cruise control (at least in my 2013 A6). I was confusing it with Auto Brake Guard which can be disabled.
My second point about temporarily overriding ACC by pressing the accelerator pedal is accurate.
