I found that it's hard to getting the extender 100% tight so just use some Scotch Adhesive Removable Putty on it. Works great and not permanent.

I place my phone in landscape orientation on the little "shelf" in front of the dashboard display, right behind the steering wheel. This allows me to best keep my eyes on the road while being able to glance at Waze. There can be a bit of glare depending in the angle of the sun relative to the car (most pronounced with sun directly overhead). Also, the phone blocks the center portion of the dashboard display, but I can still see the tach and speedometer clearly.
