Default First Test Drive of the 2016 S6

Hello, First post. Been trolling for a couple of weeks. Never owned an Audi, or driven one till yesterday.

So I finally found a dealer with a car I could test drive. Car was very fast. I did notice the steering was not very tight.

Is that something that can be adjusted? I know its all electric, but I felt like I was not as in touch with the car and the road. Not a deal breaker, but I'm hoping the salesman just didn't know how to adjust it. I drove it in both automatic mode, and dynamic.

I was close to buying but the dealer and I were about $1000 off on the price so I walked. Thinking about doing a special order.

Thanks

Lonwa

If you drive in dynamic, you drove the "tightest" steering setting.

Also. Can you wait for 6 months for the car over $1000? That's the wait time now. Also, depending on what you drive now, you'll lose more than $1k in depreciation over those 6 months.

Interesting. My 08 Lexus GS350 seemed tighter, and I don't consider it very tight at all. Did maybe the sales guy screw up on the setting? Is this feeling similar to what you guys experience?

I can wait the time given the car I drove was not really close to the options I wanted. I got many features I didn't want, and most of the ones I wanted were not included. My main goal was to drive it since I had never done that before.

Thanks

Lonwa

If you add the Alu Kreuz to the car the steering response is immediate and extremely precise. One of the best mods you can do to any Audi.

It can take about 1000km before the tires wear in a bit. Up until then the steering can feel much lighter. I'm driving a loan 2013 S6 that has done 15000km (until my new S6 arrives), and the steering feels much tighter than the 2016 S6 I test drove, that had done 50km.

Has anyone that has upgraded to the 2016 model from the previous model noticed any difference in the handling? I notice the S6 I'm driving at the moment doesn't handle as well as my 2007 A6 4.2 FSI S-Line. I must check the tire pressure, as it also feels quite soft compared to the 2016 S6 I drove, on the same 20" wheels.

Im on my 4th S6 with the 16(One 13 and two 14s). I can tell a huge difference with the 16 but Im kind of biased because I have the sport package with the dynamic steering and I had the Alu Kreuz installed before I drove it home. Either way, its an amazing transformation.

Thanks for the reply. That Alu Kreuz looks like a nice upgrade. Sports suspension has always been standard here on the S6, so if the tires aren't under inflated, it would seem the 2016 is better, or this one has a problem.

I can't wait to get my new S6. The one I'm currently driving also has the terrible throttle lag/delay, that has almost got me in trouble on a couple of occasions.

Thanks for the info guys.

The dealership ended up calling today and offering me my price, plus another $650 off given my wife works for time warner inc. That's $1,650 below invoice.

Pretty pleased.

I will let you know how the steering changes as I break in the car.

Cheers,

Lonwa
