Your welcome, I was able to fit 52 albums of 24/96 or 24/88 on the first SD card. I also like that it uses the B&O DAC when playing from the SD card.

Yup.

I just tested FLAC and WAV in my wife's new 2015 SQ5 and they don't work.

I'm glad to see Audi took advice and added some lossless format support. Too bad it won't help us out until we buy a new car.

Next question is whether the new MMI supports Gapless Playback?
Can anyone test out a gapless album?

So far it does not appear to support gapless. On another positive note, I am testing out multichannel FLAC and it has handled everything without issue so far. I will post once I test a couple more sources. I am converting DVD Audio and SACD multichannel to FLAC.

Good News! The 2016 MMI can not only play FLAC but it can play multichannel FLAC. I have an extensive collection of DVD Audios and SACDs. A simple conversion of the multichannel source to flac and copied to the SD card. It was able to read the metadata and download the album art if missing. I tested 24bit with 88khz and 96khz all in 6 channel surround. It was able to play all combinations.

I just wish mine (2014) would play mp3 files all the way to the end. I listen to books on "tape" and long chapters sometimes cut off the last 5 seconds or so.

are you playing from an SD card, or mp3s burned as data to a CD? i've never had any car that takes mp3 CDs do that. may be an issue with the SD reader/player in the MMI?

I burn them to a disc then import them into the jukebox. I can play the files from the disc on my computer without the problem - I often do re-play the ending on my computer if an important sentence is cut off in the car. It usually only happens to chapters longer than 45 minutes. I rip them in mono using a low bit rate (64 Kbps), but I don't think that should matter.

Update: New MMI can handle 256GB SD cards. Now I can have my entire library (512GB) in lossless FLAC (Stereo and Surround)

Good to know. The manual says 64GB w/ exFAT support. It struck me as odd that it wouldn't go larger than that even though they added exFAT...

I've just been streaming Spotify on 320Kbit/s 98% of the time. I've got a 64GB card in mine but all it has on it is a couple movies I was using to test back when I was trying to get VIM working...

I think the limitation will be total files, which I believe the MMI can handle 10,000 songs per SD card. The size of the card and size of the files does not appear to be an issue.
