No kidding! I went into my dealership ready to order a 2016 and they told me, "sorry, not taking 2016 orders any more." I said, "Ok, I'll order a 2017." They said, " Sorry, don't have order sheet or prices yet." I replied, "So, you don't want me money today?"
Freaked out my salesman by sending an email to Customer Service in Germany. "Wirklich? Wann kann ich mein S6 bestellen?" Really? When can I order my S6? They responded, but passed me to Audi America.

, as the 2017 model year thing is an Audi America construct which bears no relationship to what is happening in Germany. The German S6 configurator changed overnight a couple of weeks back to add Gotland Green, Matador Red, natural agate grey wood trim, and the smart phone interface to MMI. Just a running spec change, with no impact on ordering.
However, you get the last laugh. The new wood trim and smart phone interface are added cost options in Germany...
