Default Check engine light come on this morning

Took my car to the dealer this morning on the way to work because the engine started running rough and my check engine line was flashing. I immediately pulled over and turned off the car. The problem was gone when I restarted. I think this is related to some camshaft adjuster fault codes that I found previously after I experienced a stumble once when the car was going from 4-cyl to 8-cyl mode on the highway, and another time while driving slowly through my neighborhood.

The sensation when the car was running rough reminded me of a motor not running on all cylinders. At idle you could feel the vibration in the seats, like what you'd expect if the motor was in 4-cyl mode without the active engine mounts functioning.

My car needs a lot of campaigns previously mentioned popped up on the dealer's computer:

Campaign 19J1, 68E3, and 48K8 (power steering control software update).

While I was there I asked about the fuel line recall. They said they just heard about it last Friday (9/27) and that parts wouldn't be available for another 3 weeks. So I assume it should have hit all U.S. dealerships by now.

Rob,

Sorry to hear about the darn Check Engine Light incident. Hope the dealership is able to pull the info during their diagnostics.

Good news about the fuel line recall.

If something is going to break on the car, I'd rather it happen sooner than later. It's also a risk you take in the initial year of a new model/engine, which I've done 3 times in a row now with Audi lol.

Totally on the same page with you. Let the problems happen sooner than later. Was the first to own the E36 M3, E39 M5, S5, Q7 TDI and now the S6. Love to live in the "edge" but in reality, these engines were already tested in Europe before coming over to the US, albeit the modifications made for US/EPA requirements.

Dealer called and said my S6 was ready. They said the ECM update addressed an issue related to my check engine light and shouldn't do it again. Time will tell.

I'll report back on the transmission update as well once I get some time with it.
