Knockoffs
Ebay knockoffs look fine, especially since the fronts will be covered with brake dust after one trip.

My first 3 orders were: all weather mats, trunk-liner, and radar detector hard-wire kit. Next up is a license plate holder (debating getting one with a slightly tinted cover) and then it will be time to move up to some more serious mods

2016 S6 stereo upgrade issue
Hi all. I'm new to the forum. Not sure if this is a correct place to post my question, but I lost my mind thinking my packages included Bose upgrade. Car shows up with "basic" Audi stereo. No idea who makes it. It's "ok" but not for a car that nice and expensive. I'm no audiophile but I like great sound. I don't play window rattling rap or heavy metal. Pink Floyd is as far as I get in the rock spectrum. But I like clean sound. Is there a pragmatic affordable way to upgrade this stereo without ripping the car open? I really don't want to mess with the MMi /head unit. Maybe speaker replacement or amp or? Any thoughts greatly appreciated. Regards

mObridge DA1 preamp
This device bypasses the Bose amplifier while leaving the MMI fully functional and untouched.
The mObridge outputs an Optical Digital output which can be fed to any aftermarket processor, which can in-turn feed any aftermarket amplifier. You then replace speakers and you'll have a high-quality system replacement without affecting any of the Audi MMI electronics.
How far you go with this is up to you. I am a car audio competitor, and won 1st place in one of the top competitions in the country earlier this year using my Audi MMI as the source, along with a mObridge DA1. I will be competing in the world finals this year, too.
If you want high-end audio, you can certainly have it. And you don't need to harm the MMI to do it.

That's incredibly helpful and thanks very much for the prompt reply! Really appreciate that. Do you have any thoughts of quality installers in Orange County, CA who might do this work? If not, no worries. Thanks again.

This might be a good place to start.
JT Audio - Los Angeles
If you backtrack that link to the forum subsection, there are many more reviews of installers from all over the country. You might be able to find some more in the LA area.

So I just did a quick search on the DIYmobileaudio forums for installer references. This shop in Los Angeles reportedly does excellent work. A glance through the photos shows me they have excellent fabrication skills. They also have the praise of some of the long-time forum members, so I feel the praise is deserved.
This might be a good place to start.
