Long term reliability?
Long time lurker, first time AW poster here...
I'm thinking about picking up a used C7 S6 (if I can find the right one). However, I think this would definitely be a more heart than brain purchase because my brain tells me to be concerned about the miles..
I tend to put a lot of miles on my cars (this would be my primary daily during the week (~75mi/day) and the occasional road trip. On top of that, as one would expect, I've seen on 2013's that I might be able to negotiate a deal on but they are for pretty high miles already (there's a car near me with 52k+ miles on it).
Question is... how are these cars holding up, and how would people expect them to hold up past the 50k factory warranty? Dealers don't seem to be showing too much confidence - nobody seems to be CPO'ing these cars with higher mileage.
Thoughts?

Auto, welcome aboard!
I would never suggest a used Audi without CPO or some equivalent.
Have you owned a European car in the past?

I'll second the " never suggest a used Audi without CPO or some equivalent" comment. While I think these newer Audis are very reliable, parts and repairs do start to add up quickly on a $75+K car after 55K of miles on it.
And Audi just doesn't CPO cars with more than 60K on them, so you are not going to see or find any high mileage CPO'ed S6s.

I must say my S6 (2013 with 40K Miles) has been very reliable.
Brakes are the main issue I've had. Changed out at 27k miles
Tires go about 22K Miles.
This 4.0T engine is the real deal. It's going to be pretty bullet proof.
I'd say go for it! In fact mine is coming off lease in 2 months, its near mint. PM me if you are interested in buying it.

Turbo coolant leaks
I would check the turbo connections. I have had 2 coolant leaks in 15K miles (see forum) but otherwise the car has been near perfect for 20K mi in 2.5 years.

The under warranty period these are more reliable than C6 by a long shot it seems. You just have to roll the dice without extended warranty and hope you don't get hit with multi-thousand dollar repairs. A loaded S6 has LOTS that could break, but extended warranty folks make money on the warranties on average. It's okay if you have the coin if you need to drop the cash and pay for repairs or can do some yourself X. You would spend mid 90s otd loaded S6 and so if you spend only 2/3, remember there's a reason for the depreciation.

Stretch for a couple of bucks and find a CPO car from Audi. Got mine the end of December with only 4K miles on it and CPO warranty for 100k or year 2020! Don't gamble...way to many things can potentially go wrong with is car. You're dealing with a technologically advanced sedan from Germany. Just for the hell of of it I had my friend that works on my older Corvettes drive the S6. We popped open the hood...he looks at me and says....close it , I wouldn't know where to begin.
Remember, a twin turbo V8, 7 speed DCT, air suspension, all wheel drive, MMI, etc. way to much stuff could happen. Good luck looking!

Well said, notice in my sig warranty I bought. I wouldn't however pay $5k-$7k some offer for big warranties. These are reliable cars as far as I can see, and they're better than C6, but you could sure get with multi thousand dollar repair bills

Very true. Electronics especially.
