Looks Like Start Stop made it to USA

I was just at the dealer today getting my 25k mile service and they had a 2016 in the showroom. (I posted pics of the flat bottom wheel in the other thread). The one they had did not have a stop/start button behind the parking brake as I believe is in the photo in the listing linked in the original post, but did have the "ready" position on the tach. Not sure what that means...
(Sorry the image is turned - not sure how to undo that. I rotated and saved on my computer and it still continues to upload turned 90 degrees.)

I hadn't noticed the button by the SIM slot until you pointed that out. I was referring to this button behind the parking brake on the AutoTrader listing. Isn't that the start/stop logo as well? This was not on the car I saw today.

I'm confused. The Autotrader photos show the button by the SIM as well. So some cars have it by the parking brake AND by the SIM slot, while others (apparently the one I saw today, though I wasn't looking at that part of the dash) have it only by the SIM slot? Look at this photo from the Autotrader listing - you can see it on the dash as well. I assume it's the same car because it's the same listing and the temperature settings are the same in both photos (69/65).

The button on the dash is stop start the one by the parking brake is auto hill hold assist. Although I'm not sure of its purpose since my s6 holds on hills automatically anyway. Unless the button is to defeat auto hill hold but I'm not sure why you would want to do that. Afaik it is not a U.S. feature so those pictures are likely either stock photos of european cars.

I was mistaken. The start/stop is the one under the sim slots that is an A with the circle around it. The one in your pic looks like an A with brake pads on either side. My 2016 S6 doesn't have the one by the parking brake. I'm not sure what that one is.

I believe the button with the A below the electronic parking brake is the auto hold button.

I'm on the fence on this topic. Generally I don't like the idea of a hot engine shutting off and starting repeatedly. It's hard on the starter, and hard on the whole car. But in my experience, they wake up instantly, and you just go. In stop and go traffic, I tend to disable it, especially on TDI cars.. At stop lights, I don't mind it turning off. Even releasing the brake very slightly wakes the engine up every time.
