Default Pending remodel of the 2017 A6 / S6?

There are rumors circulating about a remodel of the 2017 A6, A7, and A8 influenced by the Prologue concept car:

2017 Audi A6 Jointly Developed With The Upcoming A7 And A8 Models

2017 Audi A6 Release Date, Redesign | Audi 2016 / 2017

2017 Audi A6 Avant Release Date and Price | Auto Design and Price

Other rumors point to a redesign for 2018:

A6 / S6 -- Future Products

Wondering if others have heard the same thing? I'm currently planning on getting a 2017 S6, in part in anticipation of a design refresh.

At the earliest, if you are in the US it will be a 2018 model, available in 2017 and if you are in Europe it will likely be a 2017 model in 2017, around the same time.

An Audi salesman who claimed to be recently back from sales training for the upcoming models told me that Audi is sticking to their 8-year cycle with a refresh at 4 years. Thus, the C7 A6/S6 was released in the US in 2012, refreshed in 2016, and a new model is expected in 2020.

Never trust what a salesman is telling you with all due respect. Often times they are the last to know about new model introductions. Their main focus is to sell you what they currently have on the lot and not what they may have a year and a half from now.

Tru dat! Seriously, this was a guy trying to sell me a 2016 S6, so even if he did know about a coming refresh, he had an incentive not to say so.

Regardless, I'm very excited to pick up my 2016 S6 in a few weeks!

Sucks that you have such a view of us. I got into selling Audi because I loved the brand and am an enthusiast.

Either way, the refresh wont be coming along until around 2019.

HyperS4 - fair point and I did not mean to malign your profession or you personally. It just that I can see the Audi hierarchy not being totally transparent with its sales force about future model changes that might complicate current sales.

No worries, its not like us and lawyers get a lot of love these days. Nature of the beast.

For what its worth, we actually get a lot of timeline information and they give us training's on future products well in advance of their arrival. We have already played with and driven the new Q7 being released in January several times, and the truck is amazing. I love the direction Audi is heading with all their styling and tech.

Obviously getting the right Audi Brand Specialist is the luck of the draw. However you can always request someone who has the type of experience or enthusiasm for the brand that you do. Of course, sometimes there are salesman who are just there to sell and dont care about knowing anything, youll find that anywhere.

Off topic, but I notice that you have chipped your S6 (I'm assuming that is what RaceChip is). What impact does this have on your warranty coverage?

None, thats why I went with it over an actual APR/GIAC tune. Half the price and less power of course though. But enough of an increase to make the purchase viable and I can sell it anytime I want because its not tied to the VIN. Just took my car in for the 5k and service didnt even care that I left it on. Cant be seen by the tech computers.
