I would ignore the warning and buy a dip stick to verify the actual level.

This has happened before. Just take the oil cap off and clean the ring on it. The sensor just got over oiled.

HyperS4: I see you live in NJ like me. I just bought an A6 and the dealer I bought mine from has a lousy service dept., just curious, what dealer do you use for servicing or do you know of a good independent service shop. Also, I haven't owned an Audi for about 10 years, how is the reliability of the A6, I traded a 2010 E class MB for my new A6, I'm wondering if my Audi will be as reliable as the 2010 E class MB I had. Thanks.

I was looking through my service menu, and noticed I have the same exact message, I'm assuming this is a common error? I'm not too worried about it, I'll keep an eye on it, and see if I should mention it to the dealer when I bring it in for it's first oil change. Also What oil are most using? I've always used Mobil 1 and I'm kind of a huge fan of it... I know Audi likes Castrol... lol

MikeS6:I don't know which engine you have but I live in the NE and I used Mobil 1 for years like you, it works just as well as Castrol. The only thing you might wish to consider especially if you have the 2.0 Litre engine is changing the oil to 10-30W around November and changing it again around May to 10-40W, the A6 weighs in around 2 tons, that's a heavy load for a 4 cylinder engine to be pulling around and the weight of the engine oil does make a difference, I suppose if you leased the car it might not be as important. Good luck.PS- One last thing, the 4 cylinder engine holds 4.7 liters or 5 quarts of oil according to the Audi manual.

Funny thing is I have the same message as well. I'll check the O-ring one of these days....the comment about the dipstick..the S6 doesn't have a dipstick. Everything is based off the MMI.

8000km on my S6 and it's dropped down one segment on the display. I've never had a reduce oil message.

FYI, make sure the car is on level ground when you check the oil level.
