Default S6 19 Inch Winter Wheel Options

For anyone that uses non-OEM 19 inch winter wheels on your S6, it would be much appreciated if you could post the brand, make, wheel width, offset and tire size. I don't like the look of the Audi OEM set but I can't seem to find a non-OEM set that doesn't push the wheel out further due to a much lower offset. I'm reluctant to do this with a winter set. Thanks!

The primary reason to use the unique (for winter) 7.5 x 19 wheels with 235/45 x 19 winter tyres is for snow chain clearance. I agree, they don't look particularly exciting.

Here is Europe, Audi also sell a winter set with standard 8.5 x 20 (one of the existing option wheels) which cannot take chains, but allow (with correctly rated tyres) high speed running.

Point being, unless you are wanting to fit chains, there is no reason why you could not use any of Audi's 8.5 x 19" wheels with 255/40 x19 winter tyres.

I wouldn't recommend the Michelin Pilot Sport A/S as dedicated WINTER tires, since these are decent all-season but in no way should they be confused for a winter tire. If you are looking for a great winter tire, look at Nokian Hakkapeliitta. I've run Blizzaks, Pirelli, but Nokian's take winter traction to another level. FWIW my local dealer (a large one) recommended blizzaks

Fitment choices in 19s are very limited due to the massive front calipers. I went with 19x8.5 Machined w/Matte Graphite Acct BBS SRs from Tire Rack, 400 a pop, mounted with 255/40ZR19 Continental ExtremeContact DWS 06s. They list it as a 32 offset. They do not to my eye look like they widened the track. And the Graphite/Machined replicates well the color scheme of the OEM 20s and looks great on my Mythos Black car (IMO: YMMV).

Had them put on the car yesterday and asked the guy to check clearance very carefully. Sure enough there was just the tiniest tick when the wheel weights - mounted fully outboard right behind the centers - passed over the caliper. We pulled the wheel and you could see a very faint scratching on the top of the caliper. We discussed that it would wear in without damaging anything, but would definitely wear off a tiny stripe of paint on the caliper. I tried to persuade him to just shave the weights a smidge with a die grinder, but he balked at that, so we opted to move the weights inboard, behind the caliper, with the caution that i might get a bit of steering wheel vibration and if so bring it in and we'll try something else. But the Hunter machine was happy with that solution, and I put 150 mountain miles on the new setup today and all seems well. Moral of the story - make sure your seller is dead sure about fitment, because 19s are a very tight fit around those huge calipers. I'm going to send a report back to Tire Rack to give them a heads up that for this application they might want to look for or fabricate a lower profile weight.

Thanks for posting. I was also looking at the BBS SR's but tire rack sold out of them. The caliper clearance was my big concern and I also didn't really want to push the wheels out any further for my winter wheels. One shop recommended TSW nurburgring's but those were also ET32. I decided not to take any fitment risk on 19" aftermarket wheels and ended up buying a set of OEM S6 19" stock wheels (not the winter wheels) from another forum member. They should do the trick for the winter months. Thanks again for posting.

Nokian Hakkapeliitta R2's have been great in north east winter. 255/40R19 100 R XL bought from tiresbyweb.com ~$320/ea
