Default S6 First drive

Test drove the S6 for the first time this week. I was amazed at the overall speed and acceleration. Faster than any of my previous Porsches. Not sure how much I'm going to be able to wring it out given my commuting and driving patterns which are primarily in town but WOW is it ever fast!

I'm still trying to decide between the S6 and an A8 nwb. Very hard decision.

Although very nice and fast, I didn't really find the S6 all that comfortable compared to the A8. Not sure if it was strictly seat related, the smaller size, or a seemingly higher belt line than the A8? Has anyone found a big difference going with the comfort seats?? Hope to decide soon. Agonizing decision process. I know it's a first world problem.

The S6 is the nicest house in a middle class neighborhood (A6) family.

The same-prices A8 is a modest house in a wealthy neighborhood.

The money goes to an amazing drivetrain in the S6.

The money goes to an amazing interior and a commodity drive train in the A8.

They're just different. I have had both.

Huge difference with comfort seats. They are similar to upscale A8 seats. Much more comfortable.

Did you test the air suspension in comfort mode compared to rest. Curious what the air suspension the S6 has that the A6 doesn't effects the ride (as far as improving comfort).

Maybe its just me, but I could never really buy any A car over an S/RS car. Unless you really need the extra space of the A8, the S6 will be much more rewarding car overall. If I couldn't afford the S8, I would get the S6 or S7. Of course, if you are looking for just space and luxury, and the driving dynamics don't matter, than go for the A8 or if not, the A6/7. I guess I'm a bit confused about what demographic would cross shop an S6 and an A8 ????

I did, briefly anyway. I tested the A6 a few years ago and really liked everything but though it needed more power. Before I ordered my S6 I tested a 4.0T A8. I was fast enough but the ride reminded me way too much of the Buick my grandmother owns.

A8 vs S6 was my 2 cars debating on

Started wanting A8 for the luxury. Also I have 3 kids so wanted plenty of room for them.

Decision for me came down to which was more fun to drive. This is not my daily driver so decided fun vs size and luxury would win out. Although i really didn't compromise on luxury a lot. I didn't realize until late in the process I could get pretty much every A8 luxury feature on the S6 including the comfort seats with massage. And actually the MMI system on the 2016 S6 is a step above the current A8. So I got the more modern MMI and pretty much all other A8 features going S6. Just lost a little bit of room and a little bit of ride softness (debatable if that is good or bad)

Oh and S8 never came into equation as to me the reason I didn't think the A8 was as fun was the size. If went S8 I would get more power but it still wouldn't have S6 agility that leaned me toward the S6.

And if the current A8 had the MMI upgrade the S6 has I may still be debating the 2.

Without starting a fight, how does she look along side a 2015 RS5?
