S6 vs A8 sport

S6 vs A8 sport
I may be in the market to replace my 2013 S6. I looked at the A8 sport online and note that it has the same engine, drivetrain and air suspension as S6. It's about a foot longer (not quite sure) with a 122.9 wheelbase and it weighs 4673 lbs - about 200 lbs more than S6. If you compare a fully loaded S6 prestige with the A8 sport similarly equipped, the difference is about $8K. Comfort seats are standard as is heads up display or no charge like the alcantara headliner. I'd be interested in what people think pro or con. Looks like a good deal to me.

Drivetrain not quite the same S6 is s-tronic A8 is ZF 8spd. Although it does not seem to make any difference in the identically quoted 4.4s 0-60.
I'm not sure what else the "sport" entails....sounds kinda like s-line for the A8, so S8 body styling and sport seats....
Last thing I can think of would be suspension. S6 claims S specific tuning but no such claim on the A8 sport so might be a tad softer.
Overall the A8 is a large car so definitely drive it to see if is truly for you. That being said if it wasn't the long wheelbase it might have felt more "sporty".

The A8 sport has the older "short" A8 wheelbase - though not that short. The 8 speed tranny is used in the RS7, so it might be OK. The electronic differential is available. I'd like to test one and see how they compare. I wonder if the A8 sport and S8 will retain their V8 engines when Audi puts a V6 in the S6? Almost by definition, a V8 works less hard to put out the power of a V6.

Check specs
Yes, the site is peculiar but you'll see different specs for each if you go into it, check sport then check specs of each. Definitely the short chassis.

Personally I am not a fan of the A8 interior. It's an older design. Like the first generation Q7...they both seemed dated to me.
So for that reason alone I would go with the S6. IMO the S6 is a great balance of power, finesse, presence and prestige.
