speed trap apps
Hi, do you use any speed trap apps? I like the Audi nav system but I'm wondering if it currently has or can be enhanced with speed trap app functionality. Do you have a speed trap app integrated with your Audi nav system? Or do you use a separate one in conjunction with it?

Waze is the best because of all the users. The crowdsourced content makes it great for all kinds of nav.
I haven't confirmed anyone has done it, but I think with the composite video AMI cable, iPhone or Android to HDMI and HDMI to composite video plus VIM VAGCOM mod you could have it in the main display. Can anyone confirm? This is what I want to do.

I believe it's possible, but also agree the interface is designed for touchscreen. I'm toying with the idea of really just referring to the display for upcoming alerts without worrying about making updates on it.
I think you can do it like shown here if you can enable VIM: https://www.audiworld.com/forums/aud...creen-2888656/

I'm all in with Waze too. I've been using it since April 2012 and the road hazard/traffic/cop functionality can't be beat. Plus, because more and more people use it all the time, the data only gets better.
I have found that from time to time Waze will suggest a wacky route, so I don't trust it 100% for navigation, but it's still better than anything else out there I've seen.
I have an Escort 8500 radar detector with their crappy self-reported cop app, and that one is terrible compared to Waze because Waze has a much, much larger network of spotters than the small subset of 1) Escort users 2) who have a smart cable 3) who are running the app while they drive, and 4) who bother to report cops.
I use the radar detector as well (hard wired) but trust Waze way more for cop spotting than radar.

It's definitely possible.
I am running the display output from my Audison Bit Play on my MMI screen currently.
We ran a composite video cable from the trunk to the center arm rest, and then have the AMI to A/V dongle right by the AMI port. If I want to use the media player, I plug it in. If I want to use my iPod, then I just unplug the A/V cable and use the iPod AMI cable.
