4.0 TFSI Break-in ?
I have searched around the forum but found nothing definitive on the awesome S7 V8 engine regarding Audi specific break-in period.
Any folks who have been driving the 2016:
- Does the S7 manual say anything on this?
- Did your dealer, or the service department there, give you advice?
I haven't asked my dealer but honestly I figured I would get a quicker response from the folks here

Yeah, the manual says what not to do. It's BS though.
Vary the RPM & load and don't feel like you need to hold back. About the only thing you want to avoid is driving long distances with the engine RPMs held at the same spot (eg. don't drive at 75MPH in 7th for a hundred miles in a row).

Main reason I am asking is that we pickup the car in Charlotte on June 14th and drive to FL on the 17th. Time would have me taking Interstates almost all the way which seems as though that may not be the best of ideas given what you explained.
How many miles do those restrictions have to be observed?
I might have to replan the route to mix up the roads a bit.
Thanks

Just shift around periodically while cruising and you'll be fine. Make sure you pass a few people too; you want some nice low, mid & high load runs through the rev range.

fwiw, although the engines are different than the 4.0 TSFI, i had both a B6 S4 and a B8 S5 -- i kinda babied the S4 and ended up needing oil every ~1200 mi or so. i was more liberal with my S5 and had no issues with it whatsoever.

Many Thanks everyone! I have an idea of what to do now. It's going to be a fun ride. Think I'll stop off in Savanna - it's about half way and the wife is along too so 5 hours will be about enough for her anyway.
Round trip is over 1000 miles and I will do a good amount of local driving at each end so with your advice I'm not worried

I just drove from Orlando to Banner Elk, NC. Left with 880 miles and arrived with 1515 miles 5/17. About half the trip was between 85 and 90 the other traffic was heavy, therefore slower. Car drove like a dream.

Great to hear!! I am really looking forward to the drive!! I've been driving a 2011 Ford Focus 1.8 ecoboost here in Italy. Not a bad little driver but I'm expecting a bit more from the S7
