Gas/ exhaust smell coming from ac 2016 S7
Has anyone ever heard of issues with engines smell i.e. A strong gas or exhaust smell coming through the vents when the turbos kick in? Have a brand new S7 and this is very concerning for me currently at the dealer but apparently they have having issues replicating it. Curious as if any otherw have heard of this and how you feel a situation like this should be handled.

Check around the turbo piping for exhaust leaks. Any leak would be accompanied by a distinctive sound.
Chances are that when the turbos heat up, whatever is on the surface is burning off. The smell will go away after the crud burns off.

I have a 16 S7 and never had any gas or exhaust fumes. Hope the dealer
finds the leak for you.

This may not apply in your case but on my new A6 I had a sort of burning/exhaust smell after hard acceleration then deceleration when my A6 was new. Turned out it was some overspray of the anti-rust stuff the factory installs on the underside that got on the exhaust pipes. It eventually burned off after a few weeks. Dealer said it sometimes happens just before the assembly line workers break for lunch.

Audi is flying someone out tomorrow to look at it closer as the dealer was unable to diagnose the issue and it has happened a second time. Also was getting serve head aches and light headedness even when I was did not have the smell coming through. Even went the route of getting a CO monitor that indicated signs of CO. Should know more after Labor day.

There's a rubber strip under the hood that separates the engine compartment from the ventilation intake region in front of the windshield. A portion of that strip got dislodged on my RS7, and resulted in some strange smells inside the car. Sort of obvious, so in your case I'm sure that's one of the things Audi service checked.
