Default MY S7 BROKEN INTO!!!

This week some idiots broke into my 2014 S7 by smashing the driver side passenger windows, popping the seat latch and getting to my trunk by folding the seats down. I just found out that the rear seat latches cannot be locked which is a real security weakness of the S7. The thieves knew not to trigger the alarm going through any of the the doors as the alarm system is only a passive system. I am seriously considering an active alarm system and need advice from the forum on what to get.

Any advice much appreciated

Default So sorry for the violation...

… what a real pain. Before spending even more money, consider the situation and probability of future break-ins. If you went this long without one, then consider your Karmic debt paid and go on…

My stolen car story; when I was in graduate school, I had finally gotten a new 4x4 truck to use on my research (I am a wildlife biologist). My mom had survived a difficult cancer surgery and I was about to ask my girlfriend to marry me. I left campus to pick up a new watch for my mom and the ring for my fiancé. I had to to teach a review session back on campus so parked there and went in. I was gone only about two hours. When I got back, all that remained was broken glass. The truck was recovered and deemed totaled. The watch and ring were gone forever. I was devastated. What happened over the next couple of weeks was life-affirming. The jeweler basically made a new ring at cost. The watch was sold to me at way below cost and the dealer replaced my 4x4 with a new 4Runner (1989) with no additional down payment - just the payoff from the loan. I have never forgotten that collective kindness.

I hope it all works out OK

happy Motoring

Eric

Yes the security factor with the rear seats is worrying. I was told the valet button in the glovebox locks the trunk but it doesn't stop the rear seats from being folded down so its pretty much ineffective.

Default CAR BROKEN INTO!

Yes its worrying. best to be aware of this security flaw. I am fortunate that this has not happened in 20 years but I think I will take future precaution due to the higher probability of the car to be a target.

Thanks for your comments. Any suggestions on a system?

the valet does lock the trunk but again not the seats. as well never leave your valet key in the glove compartment. Police told me Audi owners are notorious for this and thieves are aware.I just can't believe anyone would leave the valet keys in the glove compartment in the first place

I've never understood why Audi is not providing a rear seat lock, especially considering that even my Jetta back in 2000 had this feature.

Strange that the A6 has a key lock for the rear fold down seat back but not the A7. Even my 2002 allroad has this feature.
