Replacement Tires for 2013 S7 - Need some advice
I need new shoes for my 2013 S7 with 20" rims and there are no Michelin Pilot Super Sports available in the OEM size 265/35R20. I am told there will be new production by Michelin for at least a few weeks, which means I could be waiting 6-10 weeks to get them. However, there are Michelin Pilot Super Sports available in 275/35R20 that I can get immediately. So my questions for all of you are:
1) Will the 275s fit without a problem?
2) Will there be a noticeable difference in how they perform and the car handles with them?
3) What are the downsides of the bigger size tires? Will MPG be reduced? If so, noticeably or immaterially?
4) Is there any reason to think that the 275s will be any less or more available than 265s if I need a replacement tire? I wouldn't think so, given that I couldn't get a 265 right now even if I really needed just one, so perhaps 275s will tend to be in greater supply.
Thanks in advance!

Check with your local BMW dealer. They may stock 265/35/20's. PSS are OE rubber on M5 and M6. Had the same issue last year at this time. Trashed a tire on a pothole. Tires covered by Tire Rack road hazard. But, no tires available for 6 weeks. Went to my local BMW dealer, no problem - in stock.
I have a 2016 S7 on order. Will keep my Pilots to run on the new car
Enjoy the ride

2. i tend to think generically, tire choice on audis matters a bit less given quattro tends to make up for a lot (esp with rear sport differential on top of that)...
3. assuming it somehow fit on the rims or you got new ones, the tires would likely be ever so slightly heavier just by virtue of being wider, which will be a tiny hit on mpg. i would doubt it's anything noticeable.
...indeed it sounds like you'd be better off giving your local bmw dealer a call.

I recently did some research about the 275/35x20 sized tires when I was looking for all season tires for my 20" rims. I ended up getting Conti DWS 06's - they were $200 less per set than the 265's.
Yes - they are only 10mm/3/8" wider
No
MPH and miles traveled will be a little off. An indicated 60 MPH will be a actual 60.61 MPH.

No reason I can think of.

I love this forum/community - everyone is so responsive and knowledgeable! Thank you all for your responses - they were very helpful.
I have considered other tire brands/models, but have owned just about every one of them in the past and the Michelin PSS have performed best for me and provide a solid tread wear warranty, so I want to stick with them. I am getting rid of the OEM Dunlop SportMaxx GTs, which only provided me with 14,000 miles - just not good enough.
Great suggestion to check with my local BMW dealerships for 265 availability - sure enough, my local dealership has 6 in stock. Of course, their pricing is much higher than the independent tire shops, but they are running a deal to buy 3 and get 1 free, so the pricing is only $130 more for the set of 4 and they provide a loaner. So I'm going to get the 265s to keep the set-up the same - I've liked it so far.
Thanks again!

I converted my 2008 S6 from 265s to 275s and ran that way through two sets (maybe 3) of Continental ExtremeContact DWS tires. My CPO S7 came with Continental ExtremeContact 265s (bonus!) which I will convert to 275s when the time comes. Speed difference on your speedometer is just under 1 MPH at 80 MPH, a non-issue. Rubbing is the other concern but did not affect me in the S6 and I expect the same on my S7.
The excellent performance of the Continental ExtremeContact DWS tires has made me quite loyal. I even put them on my wife's Q7.
Note that I live in Texas where winters are moderate - thus the DWS (Dry-Wet-Snow) all-season tires.
My 2-cents worth.

I just purchased 275/35-20s Goodyear F1 All Seasons for my 2014. They fit fine. In fact, if you do the math, the car rides only 3.5mm higher as opposed to being on new 265's. Width is not an issue either. I went with the 275's because they were generally cheaper than 265's and I couldn't find any 265's with a treadwear warranty. The P Zeros stick like glue, but tires should last longer than 20,000 miles. I suspect MPG is down slightly due to additional rolling resistance.
