Default Roof rack for Road and Fat Bikes)

I was looking at rack attach and they recommend the Whispbar S16 bars for the S7.

If I put a rail rack up top is the hatchback going to crash into the rail?

Anyone have a good race bike / fat bike recommendation.

The race bike is more critical.....

I have a couple of Yakima roof rack bike mounts currently on my A4 and after looking at it yesterday, decided it wouldn't be a good fit on an S7. The hatchback will definitely hit the rails.

Sounds like you need to set the opening limit of the hatch so that it doesn't hit the rails....

I have the Audi OEM cross bars, 2 Thule Big Mouth 599XTR bike racks, and one Audi rack (part # 8T0071128). I've had 3 bikes on the roof at once, with the outside ones facing forward, and the middle one facing backwards.

I've never had an issue with the hatch hitting the bike racks. When I use my Thule box (an older version that approx looks like the Force XXL 626), I do have to adjust the hatch opening because it will hit the back of the box. Unfortunately, when I set the hatch to a lower opening to avoid the box, I invariably hit my head on the hatch.

I was able to dig up a picture when I had a bike rack and the roof box mounted. You can kind of make out the end of the bike rack, and see how much shorter it is than the roof box. The hatch easily clears the bike rack, but not the box. Sorry, no pics from other angles, or with the hatch open.
