Just wondering if the Audi Beam (quattro or rings) is a factory only option or if you can add it latter?

You can add it, they are port installed.

It's available as a factory option, or you can add it later. It's actually cheaper that way. You can order the kit online or from your dealer. Takes about 30 seconds per door, but it does involve laying on the ground
I had an online discount certificate from my dealer so while my Q7 & A4 were still on order I picked up the kits there and installed them myself when the cars arrived.

BTW - they come with easy to follow instructions. All you need is a small flat-blade screwdriver.

List price from an Audi dealer is only $180. Doing a quick search, I found them here - I'm sure they're are other sources but this is a pretty good price.
