Default Roof rack/railings for 2012 Audi A6

Hey everyone, I'm new to the forum and have a question on a roof rack. I just bought an Audi A6 and am wanting to get a roof rack. I have searched and see tons of options for the actual roof rack cross bars but these look like they attach to railings that are already on the roof of the car that fit into the square hole existing on there. I am not that knowledgeable on roof rack systems and was hoping you guys could point me in the direction for full kits or railings that are not that expensive?

Thanks and super stoked to be on here.

Only one option I could find which works and looks good...

https://www.roofracks2u.com/thule-wi...tting-kit.html

I testet a Thule roofbox with these to 200kmh and it worked fine.

You can still open your sunroof.

Let me know if you find a better solution

Thank you for the reply. How does this one connect to the roof? Picture and description doesn't say if it connects straight to the roof or existing railing? My car currently doesn't have railings.

I went with the Thule rack. It works great.

No railings at all?
As I understand it there are two types. The flat ones on the avant typically and the elevated ones on the allroad. The edge comes in two versions the one I showed and the other one that grabs around the rail...
If you have neither I would not know what to do..

No factory installed OEM railings. They have the 2 square holes in each side of the car where it looks like the railings can be attached but that's it I think.

I had Whispbar on my last car. Absolutely loved them, however they aren't made for Audi A6 models yet.

The nicest looking "aero" style bar I could find was made by Rhino Rack. They come in silver or black. I think I might give them a try come winter time as I am not putting skis in the car if I don't have to...

Yup, I've looked long and hard at who makes them for these cars. Granted I have a 2016. Whatever you do, remember to clean off the roof before putting any rack on, otherwise all that grit will not bode well for your paint...

If you are ambitious, you could even put a piece of PPF (paint protection film) where the feet attach to the roof beforehand.
