Default Map update file

Hello,

I was able to download the 2016/17 map update from My Audi and successfully update navigation on my 2016 A6.

A friend of mine has 2010 S4 and I was wondering if the map file format is the same for both cars. His maps are original and never been updated. I just want to make sure to not "brick" his navigation by trying to update his system with the file I used for my A6.

Any info is appreciated.

Thanks!

Agreed. The underlying software is very likely not compatible. The process mechanism to get the data loaded into the car is very different. MMI vs. MIB ystem.

Register on MyAudy, download the map file on SD card, put the card in one of your car's SD slots, navigate to MMI setings/update and system will do the rest.
File is huge, 12GB for North America so be patient .

I found a guy a couple months ago that sells MMI and map updates for older cars. I bought a set for my 2012 A7 but have not installed them yet. It takes a couple of hours. The cost was $200 if you use PayPal direct.

Email is vagnavinfo@gmail.com. Tell him that tenspeed from Audiworld sent you.
