There is none on 4.2 (gas) AFAIK. It is the job of the MAF (mass airflow sensor). A MAP would be more a turbo type set up; hopefully you didn't mean non-US TDI 4.2. MAF is inline between airbox and the throttle assembly at back of manifold. Big round tube with a connector on one side.

If you are using a generic code reader, things like this tell you their (lack of) value for really identifying an issue well. "Cheap" = cheap in lots of meanings, or one size generic is a subpar fit on most. If VCDS or something similar, then I couldn't explain, other than with VCDS I have never seen a code about a part like that, but have seen codes around MAF.
