First S6 or stay with BMW? S6 owners please chime in.
I have a 2017 Q7 Prestige and it is the best driving SUV I have ever owned. I am now looking at a 2017 S6 but I would like to hear some feedback from current S6 owners. The choice is down to the following;
2017 S6 Premium with Drivers Assist, LED, Black Optic, Cold Weather and Sport Package. MSRP is around $83k and I can purchase for invoice after all is said and done, around $78k.
The other car in play is a 2016 550i Xdrive with M package, Drivers Assist, Exec Package, Lux Seating Package and Cold Weather. The MSRP is $81k but they are selling for $69K!!! Obviously the new generation 5 Series coming out now is playing a role with the pricing.
I am leaning towards the S6, but $9k is a lot of money.
Thoughts? Thanks for your time.

I didn't like how the 550 handled (and was happy owner of a 14 A6 3.0) so I already knew I wanted an S6.

traded m3 for s6. wanted to stay with bmw but didn't like bmw choices and it's after 5 BMWs...
BMW has better maintenance program, better HUD, better MMI (my personal 'taste') but everything else s6 is better than 550. Perfect car for me and family for now

S6 is awesome but personally I would look into a 2014 E63 AMG (assuming you need awd and this is the first year the E63 had 4matic) or even at a new C63 AMG. Both are beautiful and the service department for Benz is top tier. Also the hand built engines are a thing of beauty

Every test/review I've seen (including a comparison test from Auto, Motor und Sport, the preeminent German car magazine) says the S6 is a better choice in almost every way compared to the 550i. The one I drove did not impress me.

I think you should be able to do better than that pricing on the S6.

Thank you to everyone that chimed in. I hope the boat carrying the car drives fast!

The biggest complaint Ive read about the S6 is price and understeer. I am happy with the final price and I don't think I will notice any understeer tearing up the streets on the way to my office. Ironically I do have an incredible road course near my house that I plan on hitting a couple times next year just for fun. I am looking forward to pushing the V8 before they become extinct.

The understeer is there, but really only manifests itself above about 8.5 tenths, an area you'll rarely, if ever, explore on the street.
Which track are you near?
Though I've tracked my previous 3 Audis, I've not taken the S6 to a road course. Drag strip, yes, but not a road course. It's just big and heavy enough that I don't think it would be that much fun...
