Default 2005 bluetooth or parrot

I have a 2005 a8l with the nokia built in but I cant get the sim to recognise or find a signal.
when I turn on I can see it connect to car via Bluetooth but that's it.
spent several hours in the car trying to pair mine but the Bluetooth does not show on my phone.
I have turned the nokia off as I read in a previous post but that still did not show Bluetooth.

just hoping someone else has an idea I have not tried

would settle for any kind of connection either nokia or Bluetooth.

am I presuming wrong if the car has a nokia that is Bluetooth that I should be able to pair with it?

any help would really be appreciated as I have spent hours trying before I posted this thread..
thanks bob

You can't connect another phone via BT whilst one is already connected.

Unplug/remove/turn off the defunct built in Nokia, then pair your new phone per the instructions in the user manual. TEL > SETTINGS > etc.

I did try this but to no avail,
can the nokia be totally removed ?
ie: does the cabling unplug somewhere ?

What version MMI software do you have? If not current, upgrade the MMI software.

The phone is on a base station that you should be able to unclip from the car. Alternatively, go into the Nokia menus and disable Bluetooth.

Then, reset the cars Bluetooth and re-pair your phone.
Tel > Setup > Bluetooth devices > delete external BT devices > yes

You should also update you MMI firmware to the latest version. I think in Europe it's ver. 5170 or something like that. You get 3D sat nav display as well with it.

I'm guessing it worked for him. It's not uncommon for people to dive into the forum, get whatever info they need and then disappear without follow up until the next problem they have that they want fixing for free.

In Europe there are/were two different BT modules.

See my comments in your other post regarding the info. we need to know to help you.

Us A8s are different than European ones
