19" or 20" OE Rims?
Newbie question here, but aside from esthetics, how's my A6 going to perform differently with 20" wheels compared to the stock 19" ones that came with it (19" sport package)?
Also, dealer tells me that I would have no problem at all putting on a 20" square set of wheels, and the ones I want (P/N 4G0601025G) are same width/offset (8.5" with 45mm offset), but wouldn't the brakes or anything else need to be adjusted for wheels that are an inch larger?

The 20" wheels will fit. They will give you a harsher ride than the 19" wheels currently on your car because the side wall will be narrower.

Don't know the degree of difference you will experience, but directionally, larger wheels are usually heavier, therefore increasing time to speed and stopping distance, and decreasing fuel economy. Also agree that they will deteriorate ride comfort. Old saying at my prior employer (OE car company), "Designers love large wheels; Engineers don't".

Obviously depends in large part on what roads are like where you live given ride degradation. There is another factor. As I've found out looking for winter shoes for my 3.0T w/S Line 19" wheels, the bigger the wheels the more expensive the tires become! I think you have made the right decision.

You will also have increased handling and responsiveness, due to smaller sidewall height. Less flexing in the sidewall, and more expressive cornering up to the limit. The limit of adhesion will still be the same, so it could result in trickier handling.

Thanks, but are you referring to the 19" or 20" wheels here?

20" wheels would provide less clearance and require tires with a smaller aspect ratio, I.E. 245(or 255)/30/20, as opposed to a 19" wheel which would have perhaps a 245/35(or 40)/19 fitment. The most comfy ride for this chassis are the 18" wheels, with sidewall height aspect ratios of 245/45/18 for all seasons or summer tires, or 225/50/18 for winter tires.

If I recall Goldilocks correctly the 19s are the Mama bear variant.........unless of course roads where you live are total sh*t. Stick with your 19s assuming your roads are less than excellent. You will be glad you didn't switch to 20s.
Nakedhoof totally correct regarding ride compliance. Sportstick's car is on 18s and rides more compliant than mine on 19s w/sport suspension.
