Default gasoline cap compartment all wet after rain

i noticed that every time i go to gas station to refill gas when it is raining, the gas compartment is all wet under the gas cap cover.

I had other makes, Mini, Toyota, Honda, Subaru, Dodge, none of them have this issue.

it made it difficult to keep moisture our of the gas tank. The gas cap is wet, gas cap holder is wet, all of its surrounding is wet!

i tried some window foam, but its adherive wasn't strong enough, and fell out after a few weeks...

do any of you have a good DIY idea to fix this?

thanks in advance..

Am I the only one wanting to say don't fill-up in the rain.

In all seriousness... unless water is running into the filler neck I don't see a problem.

yes, water does not go into the hole, but the hole that hold the gas cap is wet.
where is you put the gas cap?
if you let it dangle, it will get wet and bring some mositure into the gas tank...

i don;t it shouldn't matter, as moisture is always in the air anyway, but i just feel that this is a bit disappointing on a $40k+ car.

It's not supposed to dangle. There's a hole in the side of the fuel door that you put the cap in while filling up.

There's also a small drain hole in the gas cap compartment that will prevent any significant water to build up in there. It's normal, not something to worry about. Even if a few drops of moisture were to somehow enter the gas tank filler hole, there would be no issues mixed in with 16 gallons of fuel.

Does anyone know why Audi didn't include a locking door? Seems a little odd for such an expensive car.

It locks when the car is locked (it is linked to the central locking system). If it doesn't, there is something wrong with the actuator mechanism in your car.

Really? Well, I guess I learn something new every day. I will have to check that.

yeah if you stand near the compartment when the car is unlocked and lock it you will hear it, it is one of the most audible locks in the car.
