Is there a reason the lower-tier A6 has auto park assist, since at least 2011, but the flagship A8 doesn't?

It'll be on the D5. I'm sure it has something to do with no room to package it in the D4. Lane keeping assist is one thing, but auto park assist requires a whole new batch of sensors and a more robust method to turn the wheel.

The only parking features on North American 2012-2017 C7 A6 are proximity warning sensors and a graphic display on the DIS. Those with the 180 degree cameras can see an overhead view when parking. There is no "auto parking" feature however.

Ah... so you are saying that it is available on the A6 - just not in the U.S.?

Correct. There are many things not available in NA that are found in the ROW.
