Wow been a while since I've been on a forum....I may need a refresher....

Anyway I'm Nick, long time VW guy (mostly old IDI stuff with a TDI mixed in) and just picked up this nice old A4 Quattro. 99, 2.8, 5spd, 165k on the clock. Front end leaks oil like a pig, has a heater hose/heater core leak & needs a clutch. I picked it up from the original owner. Included was the original order sheet, deposit receipt for ordering the car, original hand written bill of sale and 17 years worth or maintenance records. I've started into the car and will post another thread with all that fun stuff!

Greetings, Nick. I moved to an Audi from a VW TDI recently also. VWGoA offered me more than my VW was worth so I bought an Audi.

I'm not a mechanic like you apparently are so I bought one that hopefully won't require repairs for awhile.

Our last TDI was a 2006 and after the fiasco with a cam failure at 21K I swore off VW... Since '07 I've had an old '86 Golf purchased from the second owner and the wife briefly had a Cayanne.

Glad you made out well on your TDI. Some really shady stuff VW did..... I won't buy another GM vehicle after the bail out and I doubt I'll ever own another TDI or VW.

Welcome to the forum, Nick! Great choice on getting the Audi.

Safe driving out there!

Damn! That looks like a drawing of one of those extremely complex machines that does nothing in a cartoon. Only a real mechanic would be where you are now.

Keep us posted. You could probably have all the part time work you want from fellow Audi owners near your home when you successfully complete that project.

I've started another thread in the B5 A4 section.

https://www.audiworld.com/forums/a4-...-said-2911075/

I was a wrench in a former life if you will. I work on everything that we own including the kitchen sink. We boat most of the summer and we'd never be able to do that if I didn't work on my own stuff.

I'm a Caterpillar guy during the day supporting our dealers & customers with better engine repair options. I'm also our turbocharger overhaul/balancing instructor/'guru'
